DynDSL Client Software
 
There are 3 ways you can have your DynDSL Hostname updated with your current IP Address.

  1. Login to our website with your userid and password and manually click the "Change Hostname" option button

  2. Enable the "Auto URL" feature in your DynDSL account and make DynDSL your browser Homepage so that your IP address is updated each time you start your browser, or

  3. You can Download one of the following clients, configure it, and have it automatically login for you!

FreeThis package requires the prior separate installation of ActivePerl. The file is a self-extracting zip executable file gnudip-2.3.5.exe

FreeActivePerl takes up about 50 meg of disk space, and most of this is not needed by the client script. So there is a separate version of the Windows client package, with the necessary files from ActivePerl included with it. It should be easier to install. gnudip-2.3.5.exe

If you have been using DynSite to update your DynDSL account - you need to download the latest version (Beta) of DynSite in order for it to work with the DynDSL V2.3.5.

Once you have downloaded the New version of DynSite - you need to then download and unzip the following DynDSL Patch (0.5 KB) and place it in your DynSite config directory.

The Configuration proccess may ask the following Questions;
 
  • New Username/Hostname: - Reply your DynDSL username (eg: foo - if you registered foo.dyndsl.com )
  • Domain: - enter "dyndsl.com", "au2000.com" or "45z.com" (without the quotes)
  • Connect by direct TCP (d) or web server (w): - Just press ENTER for (d) option
  • Password: - Enter your DynDSL password
  • Cache File: - Just press ENTER to accept the default
  • Minimum Seconds Between Updates: - Just press ENTER for the default.
  • Maximum Seconds Between Updates: - Just press ENTER for the default.
  • If any questions appear regarding the GnuDIP server - Enter "update.dyndsl.com" (without the quotes)

Right mouse click on the DynSite icon in your icon tray and then select - help - then select - Check for Upgrade. This will download the latest site listing - DynDSL.com will now be available in the Services List. DynSite 
 
Best practice is to configure clients to run at server / workstation startup...
 
Primary DNS is updated almost immediately, Secondary DNS should sync withing 1 Minute. The Default TTL for our domains has been set at 5 min. So it should take only about 5 min for your updates to be visible. You may need to close and restart your browser or clear it's cache to correctly reflect updates...
